IRC Guidelines

To ensure WPLUG remains a welcoming environment for everyone—from total beginners to seasoned architects—we ask all users to follow these basic guidelines:

  • Be Respectful: No offensive language, racial slurs, or derogatory comments.
  • No Spam: Keep the conversation focused on technology, FOSS, and community.
  • Be a Human: Avoid behavior that disrupts the flow of conversation or creates a hostile environment.

WPLUG channels are “family” channels; we prioritize helpfulness and kindness over technical elitism.

How to Connect

Web Client (The Fast Way): Simply visit https://webirc.wplug.net in your browser.

IRC Client (The Power User Way): Use any standard IRC client (e.g., HexChat, WeeChat, Irssi) with these settings:

  • Server: irc.wplug.net

Once connected, check the MOTD (Message of the Day) for a list of active channels.

A Note on Nicknames: Nickname registration is optional. You can join immediately with any name you like. If your preferred name is taken, just pick another!
