Voting in WPLUG
WPLUG is a member-driven collective. We vote on direction and action—not on every detail.
Our Philosophy
We reject corporate black-box governance. The collective's will is the final authority on what WPLUG does. But we also trust technical experts to make technical decisions without polling the membership on every config file.
The Voting Platform
All official voting is conducted via our self-hosted Loomio instance: vote.wplug.net
This provides structured debate and a permanent, verifiable audit trail.
What Gets Voted On
- Leadership elections
- Bylaw amendments
- Major policy changes
- Direction and actions of the organization
What Does Not Get Voted On
- Technical decisions (handled by the technical committee)
- Day-to-day operations
- Emergent decisions by the President / Chairperson
Absence and Quorum
If members are absent from a quorum, the number of votes needed to act is reduced proportionally.
- Example: 8 roles exist, 6 present—4 votes needed.
For the Full Rules
- Members: See the Bylaws for eligibility, election cycles, and nomination procedures.
- Visitors: Interested in joining? See the Membership page.
Knowledge should be shared. No gatekeeping. Keep it FOSS.
