We aren't interested in the legal headache of crafting a “Privacy Policy” that ends up confusing the average reader. Most Privacy Policies are drafted by a team of lawyers with one goal: to protect the company from its users. We are not a company. We are a collective. So, we'll just be direct about how this works.
The Facts:
No Selling. We will never sell your data. Period.
No Sharing. We do not share your data.
Total Deletion. If you request that your account or data be deleted, we will delete it. No hoops, no excuses.
Verifiable Deletion. If you want proof that your data is gone, we will live-stream the deletion process to you over Signal or your preferred secure application.
Active Defense. We will fight tooth-and-nail against any and every request for users' data. If we are served with a request for your information, we will notify you immediately, and we will contest it (unless legally barred from doing so, in which case, we will contest that, as well).
Open Answers. If you have questions about what we have, where it is, or how it's stored, ask. We will provide every answer we can.
A Note on History:
To keep the community as a usable archive of knowledge, we retain channel history for one year. Private message history is also retained for one year, but this is opt-out.
Q: Why is private message history opt-out?
A: Because we feel most people want to be able to get a link from a message that was sent weeks ago. Private message history enables this.
This is our word. It's a commitment to the people who make WPLUG what it is.
